Social media marketing – what does the future hold?

Social media marketing is so important because social media is something that’s so intrinsic in society these days. It seems like every person and every business uses it and thrives on it. It’s a great tool, that’s for sure. But since it’s grown so quickly and made such a huge impact, it leaves many people wondering what the future of social media marketing will be. Which platforms will succeed? What’s the next big platform? Is it Snapchat? What about Musical.ly? and More generally, will social media keep growing at its current rate? Whilst nobody can predict the future, here’s some of our predictions for 2017 and beyond:

Video Will Be More Prominent

Whilst we’ve seen the fall of Vine this past year, video in general, is becoming more and more popular. In the future, we expect to see more video platforms starting up. That’s not to say visual networks like Pinterest or Instagram will suffer, but video will play just as an important role.

Facebook Is King

facebook-kingRegardless of what niche your business is in, Facebook still remains the best social media platform to promote yourself on. There are a couple of reasons for this. The first reason is it’s the platform that everyone is on. But I’m targeting businesses you may say? That may be true but behind businesses are people, like me and you, and they’re on Facebook.

It’s also a platform that’s great for any business and is geared more towards long-form content. Pinterest and Instagram are fantastic for images, Twitter prizes short and sweet, Facebook is still prefers longer content. It’s also a great way to show some behind the scenes and connect with your customers on a more personal level.

Social Media Marketing Is Vital

If you’re a business and you’re not doing social media marketing yet, where have you been for the last five years? Research tells us that social media is only growing and experts don’t believe it’s going to stop anytime soon.

If you’re a business, there are a few things you can do to ensure that you are maximising your presence on social media.

Know Why You’re There

If you’re just rambling on about what you had for dinner with no real purpose or drive, your content is going to be dull and your followers won’t be your followers for very long. This is not what social media marketing is about.

Know what your purpose is, what your goals are and you’ll soon be on a path to social success.

Invest in an all rounder

Investing in someone who is specialist across all the social media platforms will help your business a lot. If you aren’t sure how to drive traffic to your business through these channels, it’s time to call someone who does.

Social media marketing is the best way to get business nowadays and if you aren’t using it you’re missing out on a big portion of potential customers. Your competitors certainly are. Social media is only going one way (and that’s up) but by being smart about it and investing in your future, you’ll be successful no matter what the future holds.
